The Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) under the Commerce Ministry will probe the alleged dumping of cold-rolled non-oriented electrical steel, polytetrafluoroethylene, Acrylonitrile Butadiene Rubber, black toner powder cartridges, 1,1,1,2-Tetrafluoroethane (R-134a), and several antioxidants currently being imported from China.
According to six separate notifications issued by the DGTR, the complainant companies have sought anti-dumping duties on these products, claiming that the domestic industry is suffering due to the influx of cheap imports into India.
The probe, initiated based on prima facie evidence submitted by domestic companies, may lead to the imposition of anti-dumping duties on these products if they are found to be causing damage to the local industry.
The description of the complainants, products, and their respective uses is as follows:
1. POSCO Maharashtra Steel and CSCI Steel Corporation India have sought a probe against imports of cold-rolled electrical steel from China, which is used in several industries.
2. Apcotex Industries Ltd has requested a probe against imports of Acrylonitrile Butadiene Rubber from China, the EU, South Korea, and Russia. Due to its resistance to extreme temperatures, this product is used in automobiles and the oil and gas sector.
3. R-134A, or 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane, is a high-temperature refrigerant in automobile air conditioners. SRF Ltd filed a plea for an anti-dumping probe.
4. Indrayani Sales has sought a probe into imports of black toner powder cartridges from China.
5. Gujarat Fluorochemicals Ltd has requested a probe against the dumping of polytetrafluoroethylene, which is utilised in the electronics, mechanical, and chemical industries.
6. Vinati Organics Ltd has sought an anti-dumping probe on certain antioxidants being imported from China and Singapore, which are primarily used by petrochemical companies producing plastics.
